One of Cisco’s four global support centres is based in Sydney, Australia. Approximately 43% of the centre’s staff are non English speaking which allows the company to provide a multi-lingual support service across the world. The company also acknowledges the cultural skills which the diverse range of employees bring to the organisation. Cultural awareness allows employees to treat clients with understanding and respect.
The company also promotes cultural diversity through a series of training and awareness programmes which are available to all members of staff. While the training gives staff an understanding of the culture of other employees in the organisation, it also allows staff to communicate with customers from a range of countries sensitively and effectively. As a result the Sydney branch of the organisation is able to handle 80% of worldwide queries.
