  • The Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 – Applies to employment, goods and services. Title I and V of the act protect people with disabilities against discrimination in employment in the private, state and government sectors across the US.
  • Section 501 and 505 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 protects people with disabilities from employment discrimination in the Federal Government Sector.
  • Title VII of the Civil Rights Act 1964 – Protects individuals against discrimination in employment on the basis of race and colour as well as sex, religion and Nationality.
  • The Equal Pay Act 1963 protects men and women doing equal work from wage discrimination on the basis of gender.
  • Employment Non-Discrimination Act 1995 – Protects individuals against discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation
  • The Age Discrimination in Employment Act 1967 – Protects the rights of employees over the age of 40.
  • The Civil Rights Act or 1973 provides financial compensation in cases of employment discrimination covered by the above legislation.
